About the Crew

Following the successful leasing of the Garron Pil Boatyard at the end of 2008 John Edginton has begun building a marine business focusing on tradional skills aimed at local boat owners with a group of former MITEC students under the classics4sail banner.

John Edginton

John Edginton's (Left) love affair with classic boats began in 1995 when he became the proud owner of an un-named Hillyard 2 1/2 Tonner. 'Halo Jones' as she became know consumed nearly 2 years of his free time before being commisioned and John spent the next 4 years exploring the south coast in her.

The experience
fueled his love of classic vessels and since then made repeated attempts to escape his profession as an IT Manager to retrain as a boat builder. In 2006 he managed just that and in 2008 gained his City and Guilds 2451 Level 3 ( Boat Building) from MITEC.

An active sailor, John has logged around 20,000 sea miles (including 3 trans-Atlantic passages) in vessels under 50ft and holds an RYA Yachtmaster Offshore qualification. He currently sails a Victoria 26 out of Neyland marina.

Andy Keward (Right) spent years dreaming of Bristol Pilot cutters while driving for a living.

In 2006 he finally gave in to his love of the cutters and began training at MITEC gaining his City and Guilds 2451 (Boat Building) qualification in 2008.

Andy has subsiquently spent his time at the Underfall Yard in Bristol fulfilling his dream of building Pilot Cutters as well as free-lancing with classics4sail.
